University of Tennessee Chattanooga

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) is a public university located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. It is part of the University of Tennessee System and was founded in 1886 as the Chattanooga University. It was later merged with the University of Tennessee in 1969 to become the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

UTC has over 11,000 students enrolled in its undergraduate and graduate programs. It offers over 140 degree programs across six colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, Health, and Human Services, College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Health Professions, and the Gary W. Rollins College of Nursing. UTC is also recognized as a metropolitan university by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

UTC’s campus is located in downtown Chattanooga and has a mix of historic and modern buildings. The university is home to the Challenger STEM Learning Center, a hands-on science center that offers programs for K-12 students. It is also home to the SimCenter, a high-performance computing center that provides advanced modeling and simulation capabilities.

The university’s sports teams are known as the Chattanooga Mocs and compete in NCAA Division I athletics. The Mocs have a strong tradition in football and have won multiple Southern Conference championships.

UTC is committed to sustainability and has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA for its efforts in promoting healthy trees and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship. It has also implemented a bike share program and has several LEED-certified buildings on campus.
