My advice regarding the U. of Illinois MBA program: It’s great if you’re a graduate of the U. of I. engineering school, which is one of the best in the U.S.A. If you’re more liberal arts oriented, it’s not for you. I graduated undergrad with a Bachelors degree, majoring in Latin American history, language, etc. I went into Military service for two years, after which I was accepted to the Illinois MBA program. I realized my mistake on day one, when the professor introduced our class to “stochastic programming”. He spent the entire day writing indecipherable mathematical equations on the blackboard, representing his personal theory of the subject matter. And so it went, as with all the other professors, and their personal theories, for the next two years. The only subject that was not “quant”, was Human Resources, which I aced. I managed to barely survive the two-year program, and was hired by a prominent U.S. Bank.
