Howard University

Howard University is a private, research university located in Washington, D.C., United States. It was founded in 1867 and is named after General Oliver Otis Howard, a Civil War hero and the founder of the university. Howard University is known for its focus on African American culture, social justice, and the promotion of diversity and inclusion.
